SOCIAL GROUPS

1) INTRODUCTION

My topic is social group.from 8 th standard text book (chapter - social groups and social control)

In the social sciences, a social group is defined as two or more people who interact with one another, share similar characteristics, and collectively have a sense of unity.[1] Regardless, social groups come in a myriad of sizes and varieties. For example, a society can be viewed as a large social group. The system of behaviors and psychological processes occurring within a social group or between social groups is known as group dynamics.

Primary group-is a small group (such as the nuclear family) characterized by direct, intimate personal relationships between people who depend on each other for support and for satisfaction of emotional needs.

Secondary groups-In the social sciences, social groups can be categorized based on the various group dynamics that define social organization.[1] In sociological terms, groups can fundamentally be distinguished from one another by the extent to which their nature influence individuals and how.[
